Bewertung: 5 out of 5 stars - A Perfect Sequel
The Collectors is a way better sequel than the first book in this series: the Camel Club. Basically because of one major factor: The story is definitely more realistic. Baldacci asked too much of his readers in this first book by continuously implementing new figures in the political and intelligence business and ending up with an exaggerated doomsday scenario, that definitely made the story in the end too implausible and therefore uninteresting.
He definitely didn't make this mistake here. The storyline is very complexe and gives a lot of hints for any possible ending, but you never really catch the whole storyline till the very end. That very sophisticated idea has still a realistic approach, that the reader can follow by any time, and gives the book an incredible enjoyable character. And the open ending of the second storyline in this book, makes you become absolutely interested in the next sequel.
Hopefully, the U.S. authorities ready carefully his books, so they will always be ahead of what potential traitors might have in their minds how to operate their businesses. ;-)

Bewertung: 5 out of 5 stars - What an incredible book.
What an incredible book. Once you start reading it, you won't be able to set it down. I even got yelled at by my boss for reading the book on company time. I've read it 4 times and each time is like the first time. There is alot of information to process so get ready be blown away. It's awsome. Also, if you missed reading Tino Georgiou's masterpiece--The Fates, go and read it.

Bewertung: 4 out of 5 stars - Erfrischend anders

Bewertung: 5 out of 5 stars - The Camel Club Adds a New Ally
If you liked David Baldacci's The Camel Club, don't miss The Collectors! The wackiest group of Minutemen in history is back with an unexpected ally, Annabelle Conroy, who brings her extraordinary skill in running million-dollar frauds to the Camel Club's traitor fighting. It's a brilliant development for a series concept that is already one of the most successful variations on the thriller genre in many years.

As before, the Republic is in danger by sinister people who are selling off secrets to the highest bidders to feather their own nests. The evidence of this danger is found in frequent deaths of spies and prominent people. In this case, a rogue assassin has gone into business for himself. In addition to earning a fortune, he is also thrilled to keep souvenirs of those he dispatches.

One of these deaths, that of Jonathan DeHaven, is a quite mysterious one at the Library of Congress that seems on the surface to be from natural causes. But the Camel Club wants to know more and develops an intriguing theory. As a result of the death, Caleb Shaw becomes the literary collection's executor of his former boss's estate. In the process of reviewing the books, Caleb stumbles onto an unexpected volume that raises astonishing questions that are not easily answered. One mystery leads to another when a visit to Jonathan DeHaven's home turns up a telescope trained at an unexpected scene. There's also a photograph of DeHaven with a most attractive young woman. Who ... weiter
